In addition to our own servers, students are encouraged to use the HTC machine in the Center for Research Computing (CRC) at Pitt. Our lab has allocation of enough computer hours for large computing. The machine is fast and has many NGS pipelines conveniently installed. The machine there is less flexible to install necessary packages but the staff in CRC is always very responsive. We now direct students to run all NGS data analyses and heavy computing to the HTC machine.

NGS raw data analyzed in the lab are systematically backed up in external hard drives and are useful for methodological development when needed.
